Milestone: Positive Change & Development

 FEBRUARY 3RD 1989:

Men and women of alike minds from Ekiti came together and gave birth to Ekiti Parapo Association, New York. As a child conceived out of the patriotic desire for a positive change and development especially in Ekitiland. Ekiti Parapo Association, New York was delivered at 648, Jamaica Avenue, New York with Chief Ayodele Akande as its pioneer President.

 FEBRUARY 1992:

Ekiti Parapo Association, New York donated College level textbooks valued at Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (=N=250,000.00) to Ondo State University, Ado Ekiti.

 DECEMBER 1993:

The Association came up with a gift of computer and software equipment worth Eight Hundred Thousand Naira (=N=800,000.00) to Ondo State University, Ado Ekiti.

 1994 -1996:

The resolve for an improved health care delivery to our people at home influenced the Association's decision for a health care program between 1994 - 1996.

In the fulfillment of this, IKOLE EKITI GENERAL HOSPITAL received a donation of One Hundred Thousand Naira (=N=100,OOO.00) to refurbish it's electric generating plant. The STATE SPECIALIST HOSPITAL, ADO EKITI also benefited from a donation of One hundred Thousand Naira (=N=100,000.00) to purchase an ultra sound equipment which it urgently needed.  In addition to this, a sum of One Hundred Thousand Naira (=N=IOO,OOO.OO) was given to IJERO EKITI GENERAL HOSPITAL to repair it's grounded ambulance. In the same vein, IKERE EKITI GENERAL Hospital was able to own a diagnostic testing equipment. IDO EKITI GENERAL HOSPITAL, now Federal Medical Center, was not left out.
The hospital was able to sink a borehole to provide portable water supply with a donation of One Hundred Thousand Naira (=N= 1 00,000.00) in 1996.

 NOVEMBER 1997:

Charity is often said to begin at home. Ekiti Parapo Association, New York was able to promote Ekiti indigenous music and expose part of the rich culture of Ekitiland to the outside world. The Association sponsored Chief Elemure Ogunyemi and His Ekiti New Dimension Organization on a musical tour of the United States in December 1997. The New Dimension Organization successfully toured and performed in many major cities in North America to the admiration of music lovers including non Ekitis.

 

 JANUARY 3RD 1998:

To support Ekitiland's main industry, education, the Association awarded scholarships worth Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (=N=250,OOO.00) to fifty students of Ekiti State origin in various Nigerian Universities.

 The award ceremony was held at Super Care Hotel, Ise Ekiti. The award winners were in the field of Architecture, Computer Science, Engineering, Medicine and Pharmacy.

 MAY 29TH, 1999:

In fulfilling part of our objectives, the Association was represented and recognized at the inauguration ceremony of the first executive governor of Ekiti State, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo.

  JANUARY 15TH, 2000:

Award of scholarships worth Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (=N=250,OOO.00) to fifty students of Ekiti State origin in various Nigerian Universities. The successful award ceremony was held at Doherty Memorial Grammar School, Ijero Ekiti.

 APRIL 2000:

Financial assistance to Mr. Aina Olajide, an eye cancer patient, to undergo eye surgery at the University College Hospital, Ibadan.

 DECEMBER 2001:

To compliment our home government's efforts, the Association successfully held enlightenment campaigns about the HIV epidemic and AIDS scourge in various locations in Ekiti state.

 AUGUST 17TH, 2002:

Facilitated the formation and played a leading role at the inauguration of Ekiti National Associations In North America (EKAINA).

EKAINA's main objective is to bring together all Ekiti Associations in North America under one umbrella towards achieving more for our young but developing home state.

 DECEMBER 28TH, 2002:

Award of scholarships worth Five Hundred Thousand Naira (=N=500,000.00) to fifty deserving students of Ekiti State. The award ceremony took place at ado Ayedun Ekiti on December 28,2002.

 MAY 29TH, 2000:

Represented at the inauguration ceremony of the second civilian administration of Ekiti State.

 SEPTEMBER 2003:

Sponsored the 2003 Annual Health Campaign Week of Ekiti Medical Students' Union, (EMSU), University of llorin Chapter, held at Ise Ekiti in September 2003.


 PROPOSED: Award of scholarship worth Five Hundred Thousand Naira (=N=500,000.00) to fifty deserving students of Ekiti State origin. The award ceremony shall take place at Usi Ekiti in December 2004. To compliment our noble efforts, we appeal to well meaning individuals in the society to please support our philanthropic cause.

January 4th, 2007 : Award scholarship worth one million naira to deserving student of Ekiti State. The award ceremony took place at Ilupeju Ekiti town hall, present at the award ceremony  are former minister of information Are Ayo Ogunlade, Esan Ogunleye ( IDA) president and the royal father Oba Oniyelu the Apeju of Ilupeju Ekiti. The president of the association Are Taiye Ogunleye was on hand with other memeber of the assocation Chief & Mrs Ayodele akande, chief & Chief (Mrs) Adeyemi Agbaje Prince adedayo Ojo Prince R. ojo, Mr. Toyin Ogunleye, Mr. &Mrs Olatunbosun, Mr. &Mrs Owolabi and first Lady of the association Yeye Are Yemisi Ogunleye.
